Transportation challenges just keep climbing along with fuel prices, driver shortages, and the need to reduce excess product. Having an effective and efficient dispatch system in place that delivers visibility to your operations and drivers is essential. Benefits include efficiency in staging outbound trucks, increasing accuracy of truckloads, and optimizing driver’s delivery routes and schedules.
Using Intercode's mobile computing technology for deliveries to stores and customers, drivers are able to record real-time proof of delivery and customer receipt confirmation to order processing systems, eliminating follow-up calls and other delays in tracking deliveries and reducing the order-to-cash cycle. By deploying Intercode's delivery products, fleets are becoming more responsive with WWAN communications, decreasing travel time and expense with GPS, and improving accuracy with bar code scanning and RFID.
Intercode’s products are used in a wide range of Delivery applications, including:
- Delivery Status
- Dispatch / Route Optimization
- Driving Directions
- Inventory Management
- Load Management
- Current Location and History (Bread Crumb Trail)
- Proof of Delivery
- Driver Productivity
- Replenishment
- Overage, Shortage or Damage Management
- Regulatory Compliance
How would it work?
Intercode Solutions takes direct store delivery to the next level by taking paper and guess work out of the delivery process. Route Real allows complete control over the supply chain by managing the three major components of remote sales and delivery: Logistics, Invoicing and Order Placement & Returns. The following outlines a “day in the life” of a typical Route Real user:
1) Orders are sent from an integrated ERP system to the Route Real console.
2) When the driver leaves the facility, his handheld is loaded with all of the information needed for today’s route including history information about the customer’s previous purchases and current Accounts Receivable balance.
3) A load sheet is automatically calculated based on the route and the customer orders on that route for the day. The truck can be loaded in reverse order so that the first stop of the day is on the back of the truck. All inventory loaded on the truck is automatically “transferred” from the main warehouse to the “truck” warehouse. Inventory in the warehouse and inventory on the truck is updated real-time.
4) Orders and deliveries executed in the field are scanned into a handheld device. The order can instantly be available in the ERP system for picking or staging via a wireless WAN connection built into the handheld computer from several providers such as Reliance Infocomm, Airtel, Hutch, Idea, Tata Indicom and many others. The orders can also automatically be “synched” through a WI-FI hot spot either in the field or at the company’s warehouse.
5) A reconciliation report is automatically generated upon the trucks return that displays the list of loaded items and the items sold that day and the remaining items on the truck, thus identifying errors or “shortage” issues immediately.
6) Total receipts collected by cash, checks and credit cards are available for reconciliation and automatically updated in the ERP system.
7) Invoices are automatically created in the host ERP system with no data entry.
8) Payments collected by the driver are recorded in the ERP system updating accounts receivable balances with no additional keyboard input.
9) Inventory that is taken on the truck is reconciled against what was loaded and sold when the truck returns after delivery.
